Hi, I’m Suzy Daren LMFT

I provide online therapy to clients in both New York and Florida. My work centers on helping individuals awaken to their most brilliant selves by healing from their pasts and cultivating a life full of purpose, meaning and value.

About my approach

I believe that true mental health cannot be achieved by focusing on the mind alone; it requires the integration of body, mind, heart, spirit, and sexuality. While gaining insight is valuable, real growth and healing come when self-awareness is paired with intentional behavioral change. That’s why my approach is both holistic and proactive. In our sessions, I provide a compassionate perspective and offer practical therapeutic tools, customized to support each person’s unique path to well-being.

Beyond the best practices of Western psychology, I utilize ayurveda, the enneagram, buddhism, non-dual dharma, and science to support clients in cultivating their healthiest and most fulfilling selves.

With the rise of the #MeToo movement, I’ve deepened my focus on women’s health and sexuality, particularly in liberating them from patriarchal influences. I now identify as both a humanistic and feminist therapist, recognizing the pervasive power imbalances in society and their impact on mental health, relationships, and personal growth. In therapy, I see our work as a partnership, where I collaborate with you as an equal, minimizing hierarchical dynamics and honoring your lived experience as central to the healing process.

Professional background

I graduated with honors from the University of Toronto in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Religion, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 2008.

I’ve been in private practice since 2008, starting in California while completing my supervised hours. I moved my practice to New York in 2011 where I was licensed, and since 2023, I’ve been based in Florida. During the pandemic, I transitioned to telehealth sessions and have found that most clients enjoy the convenience that they provide. I am Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both New York (#00982) and Florida (#MT4810).

In addition to my psychotherapy work, I taught yoga for 10 years and pursued in-depth studies on its role in healing the mind. Personally, I have maintained a daily meditation practice for over 20 years.

I also have experience in facilitating ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and a deep understanding of the benefits and challenges of psychedelic medicine.

Passionate about my own health, I’m an avid gym-goer and have found that lifting heavy weights and spending time in nature are among my most powerful healers.
